9. Time Steps
Time Steps can be danced at any time in closed or open position without hold, or having released hold at the end of the preceding figure. They can be commenced with either foot, leader dancing a LF Time Step while the follower dances a RF Time Step, or vice versa. Alternatively, the leader can dance a Spot or Switch Turn or a Cuban Break while the follower dances a Time Step, or vice versa. Because there is no physical lead the following type of amalgamation is often used: Leader and follower dance two Time Steps (Leader commencing LF, follower RF). Leader dances a Spot or Switch Turn to R or a LF Cuban Break (Follower RF Time Step). Leader dances a RF Time Step while Lady/Follower "accepts the challenge" and dances a Spot or Switch Turn to R or a LF Cuban Break
